The Rector

This 3rd January 2017
RECTOR’S MESSAGE
Dear All,
It gives me immense pleasure to be once again associated with SIG State Secondary School albeit this time as the Rector of the school. I was posted on 3rd January, 2017 which I consider to be a New Year’s Gift bestowed by my Ministry to open up a new academic calendar which heralds the dawn of many changes to be brought in the context of Nine Years of Basic Continuous Education (NYBCE).In this given context and under the aegis of the Ministry of Education, HR,TE&SR Shrimati Indira Gandhi SSS becomes a privileged major Regional School of the Moka & Eastern Region of the island which has already taken off with the School Transformation Project since 2015.
My priority as Head of this State Secondary School relates closely to the implementation and successful realization of the School Transformation Project which has both its “Soft and Hard” parts- ‘Hard’ in terms of the urgent completion of major infrastructural and renovation works to make the school attractive as well as appealing to one and all and specially promote and enhance a conducive Teaching and Learning atmosphere. The ‘Soft’ part relates to the maintenance and upkeep of a positive disciplined culture by students both at and outside school. This closely adheres to the Students Behavior Policy and Students Attendance Policy documents of MoE,HR,TE& SR as well as the School vision which calls for “fostering harmonious, intellectual, physical and moral development” of the students. In line with the Ministry’s Vision for “A Quality Education for All” all avenues will be prospected in the Raising of students’ performances in their academic as well as Para-academic Endeavour’s. Last but not the least, the School’s Vision to become “A Centre of Excellence for Education” goes corollary and concomitant with the creation of a school culture which will bring to all its stakeholders a humbled pride so that the School lives to the name of the illustrious person it bears.
Being at the helm of the school I am conscious of the challenging and daunting tasks which lie ahead this year and the years to come especially when the school is going to dispense students’ from 11-19/20 years whose lives will be marked and livelihood dented and shaped at this school. I humbly call on the support of all major stakeholders-Administrative, Ancillary, Teaching staff, parents as well as close collaborators to make SIG SSS a success story.
